Swinging it

I started making this swing chair during the summer holidays, but I never finished it until now. I simply began by twisting some wire into a circle for the base and a hook to hang the seat to. The wire I used was around 1mm thick. I also bent an egg-shaped frame for the seat and made it a bit curvier and chair-like. To attach the ends of the wires I twisted some thin wire around them very tightly. Finally, I added a jump ring on the top of the chair and put a larger metal ring through it (this one was left over from a curtain rod I bought) so that I can make the chair hang. This is what the metal frame looked like:

After that I started to plan the seat. I spent a good while wondering what material to use and ended up choosing a thick curtain fabric. Thinner fabric would’ve probably required two layers. I placed the piece of fabric on top of a crochet seal I had made a few years back and pinned it in place. The seals head resembled the shape I was going for and was a perfect base. I also created a few small darts and pinned them. For sewing the darts, I used backstitches as they are the strongest hand sewn stiches I knew (learnt from Bernadette Banner btw). After that I fitted the fabric to the frame and pinned it in place. I sewed it with backstitches as close to the wire as I could.
I had thought that after sewing the whole item would be finished but it looked a bit lame. Therefore, I went to seek help from Facebook and as many creative people suggested, I covered the wire with some twine. I didn’t use any glue though, so it should be easy to remove if it after some time doesn’t please the eye anymore. I ended up braiding some twine and sewing it to the edge of the seat as well. Here is the result:
